Family Engagement

Family Engagement

Families are an integral part of the Discovery community. We recognize that parents are a child’s first, and most important teacher, and a vital component to a successful early childhood experience. Through informal gatherings and our Family Share Program, staff and families make connections with each other, helping ensure that all are working towards goals that have a child’s best interests at heart. Some of our family events include: *Halloween costume parade & pizza luncheon *classroom-specific Family Gatherings over breakfast (we provide!), usually 2x/year (November & April), *Annual Holiday Party & Potluck in December, *Family Workdays (1 Saturday every fall & spring, usually mid-October and late April, lunch provided!) *Year-end PARTY in May to celebrate another school year done and kickoff our summer season!

We use Kaymbu for Families mobile app to keep families updated on their children’s time at school and their development throughout the year. Staff use COR Advantage (operated by Kaymbu)–an online assessment and portfolio tool based on the HighScope(c) Preschool Curriculum, which allows teachers to share photos, videos, stories, newsletters, and messages with families. You can stay up to date on your child’s time in our program through this app, or you will get notifications through email/text (your preference) when new things are added, which you can view online.
